What Does Your HR Department Look Like?
The HR Department in any business should be the one team that everyone is comfortable in approaching with any issue or problem that may be concerning them.
That is what I always strive for. To be approachable, genuine and honest in my advice and feedback.
People often just want to be heard. Someone in management that they can speak to without judgement and someone who they trust to respect their privacy and deal with the situation so that a resolution can be worked out that works for them and the business.
Unfortunately, this isn't always the case.
To me, HR is there as a link between the staff and the business. They should have the best interests of the company in one hand and the best interests of the staff in the other hand and manage that relationship so that there is a culture of respect and trust on both sides.
My mantra is 'human capital and innovation are the source of all long term economic success.'
But for me HUMAN CAPITAL is NUMBER 1. If your human capital is not nurtured and given an environment in which to thrive, then you have nothing.
