Kudos to Commonwealth Bank: Workplace Excellence Award in Coaching! Are you Applying Psychology to Your Workplace in an Innovative Way? If not,why not?
It's not often in the current economic climate that bank's are praised for anything. I know that the banks, especially our Big 4, have a lot on their plate with investigative inquiries into banking practices. With every increasing profit announcement, their business models are put even further under the spotlight, and rightly so, as most Australians struggle to keep their business afloat in these very challenging economic times.
So it was very gratifying to see that the Commonwealth Bank recently won an award that saw them initiate a coaching program with 3000 of their staff. Putting organisational psychology to work.
Do you really understand what organisational psychology, or industrial psychology is all about?

In other words, it's all about the human capital in your business and getting the best possible outcome for them and the business. Utilising their thinking preferences and therefore strengths for the betterment of them and the organisation they work for. All organisations are made up of humans. It seems like simple stuff but so many businesses cite that 'staff' are the biggest challenge in their business. If you champion your staff, they will in turn be more effective in their roles and they and the business will thrive. The business will build better teams that capitalise on the strengths of the individuals to create teams that have a better understanding of everyone's ideas and input. You will have that elusive 'buy in' that is the hallmark of all successful organisations. Engaged staff are happy and productive and loyal and trusted. If your organisation isn't looking at their business from the perspective of their human capital, then there will always be 'staff' problems.
If the Commonwealth Bank can apply some organisational psychology innovations and practices for the betterment of their staff and ultimately their clients, then so can all businesses. Doesn't matter what the size of your business is, everyone will benefit from applying some psychological principles to the workplace because all workplaces are human.
This is what I am all about. Thinking DNA is all about building better teams. Organisational psychology is all about your staff and your teams and achieving a win-win for everyone. Get in touch with me to learn more.
