"Disagree and Commit" as Jeff Bezos from Amazon says
Commitment and disagreement can work together
How much time is taken up in business with trying to convince the relevant stakeholders that a certain business initiative is the right way to go? Jeff Bezos, Founder and CEO of Amazon seems to have nailed it with his "disagree and commit" ethos.
In this fast paced, technologically driven business environment of today, responsiveness is something that needs to be championed. Too much time and human resources are wasted while waiting for all the ducks to be in a row; before making a decision and committing to the project. If errors are made with a quick and responsive decision, things can be re-worked. If no decision is made, there is nothing to be re-worked because there is no forward movement to re-work.
If the team has a great idea and there isn't 100% buy-in by from everyone, what is the cost of not going with their gut feel? After all, they were hired for their expertise and sometimes that needs to be trusted. I have spoken about trust before. If the team has been put together to maximise everyone's strengths, then sometimes that needs to be rewarded with the realisation that they just might know a good idea when they collectively think.
It's all about listening to everyone's thinking and acting responsively so that brilliant ideas are realised before the some other bright spark in the business world thinks of it and dives right on in.
As I always say "Human Capital and innovation are the source of all long term economic success".

No one person has all the answers. A collective of ideas will always have a better chance of success
