Re-calibrate Your Internal Navigation System to be the Best Version of You that You Want to be
Everyone has times in their life when things are just not going their way. I know I have and it is hard not to think 'why me'. As humans we tend to look at other people and sometimes think that they have the perfect life, or so it seems. If only that was me, if only I had that opportunity.
Let me say right here and now that no one goes through life without challenges along the way. No one has a charmed existence. We all put on a public persona and only the select few will really know what is happening in our life. And that's ok. We all have a 'game face' that we show the world. We don't want or feel the need to share everything about our personal lives with all and sundry. However, because we, as humans, keep certain things private, other people can have a perception about you that may be way off course.
You might think, for instance, that because someone has a great career, a loving partner, a fantastic house and travels overseas regularly that they lead a charmed life. And that does sound pretty good but what you don't know is that they have a medical condition that in the short term, will severely impact on their quality of life, or that their only child has a rare disease that can only be treated overseas (hence the regular o/s trips). We all surmise about other's lives and think that the grass is greener over there. Not necessarily so.
A classic example is when we go to a school reunion. It can be one of the most confronting and challenging functions you will ever attend. Everyone wants to appear to be successful in the eyes of their peers and everyone is checking everyone else out. No one wants to be seen as unsuccessful, that they haven't lived up to everyone's expectations. But, when you think about it, who's expectations are you really worried about? It's more your own self expectations that are the real issue. You don't feel that you have lived up to your own presumptions or ideals of success. By judging everyone else around you, there is always the thought that others are doing better in and at life than you are.
All we really need to do is try and be the person we want to be. Wake up every morning and recognise who we are and what we have achieved and what we want to achieve. Realise that we can be the person we want to be and re-align our thinking to get us where we want to be. Re-calibrate the way we navigate our lives. The only person we need to live up to is ourselves. If we get the best from ourselves then we can be satisfied with ourselves and be truly happy with our outcome and not be worried about what others may or may not have because chances are they have something entirely different anyway.
Everyone else has their own life to navigate. Get the best outcome for you by giving yourself the opportunity to be the best you want to be and everything else will just flow.
